Zilvinas Kempinas – solo exhibition

Exhibition Opening 13.06.2015

8.30 p.m.

Santorini Arts Factory presents for the first time in Greece the international acclaimed visual artist ZIlvinas Kempinas, curated by Maria Vasariotou.

The uniqueness and dynamic approach of his work has been recognized by established museums and institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MOMA), the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Art Basel Fair in Miami. Furthermore, he was featured by Art Review Magazine as one of the 25 best contemporary and most dynamic artists worldwide.

His solo exhibition consists of two widely known installations and two artworks from his recent work. The active and dynamic exhibits features the thematic axis of ‘Removement’.

Kempinas, uses simple and recognizable materials, with magnetic tape being the dominant one, in order to create atmospheric, kinetic and minimalistic installations of mainly large dimensions, which convert space into a life experience. The aesthetic experience created is multiple, since there is a coexistence of sound, air, light, lack of gravity and architecture. The audience undergoes a complex experience of life, in which the concepts of time and surrounding space are redefined, while at the same time participating in a theatrical environment.
